My Hausa Diva at 55

Yaaaaaay!!!! my baby is a year older and I feel on top of the world like am the celebrant. For friend's who do not know, I'm half Hausa because mum is from Sokoto.

Let's share some moments with mum together. She grew from been called Aunty Titi by her children to Mum Oyin/Iya Oyin to Mother and Grandma (My cute nephew caused this one sha... always shouting grandma like she is his biological mother.. the thing dey pain me sef).

Not every knows this story except my Kith and Kin International College mates and juniors then. On a fateful day after the strike that happened in 2011 where schools were not allowed to resume for a certain period, I was unconscious for 126 hrs.

Flashback to 2011; I just left a secondary school where I failed my core subjects (Chemisty and Physics) don't blame it on me, all thanks to my father (he wanted me to go to a boarding school so badly) that made me stay at home for SS1 first time and half of second term.

I struggled hard to understand whatever they were teaching in class then and at the end of SS1, I was out of Kembos college and I stayed at home again for two terms in SS2. I was supposed to repeat SS1 but I was able to convince the school that I would do well in SS2 (laugh well.. It's allowed jare). Yepa, u don hear when dey talk sey person fail for flying colour? nah my case be that. I failed and I was told to resume third term of the session in SS1.. I cried (e no change anything.. dem send me go class) and it was quite unfortunate that SS2 class was directly opposite SS1 class. Gradually, I started falling into depression and made up my mind to take my life.

End of flashback; my parents got a call from school around 8pm that I passed out and all attempt to bring me back was in vain so I was rushed to the hospital from the school clinic (baby girl took some overdose). Till date I don't have an idea of what happened after I took those pills.. the nurse even told me I received a call that evening but till date, I no know wetin I follow that person talk. Usually, my house to my secondary schools is a journey of 75 minutes or more but my parents got to my school in 40 minutes (na so dem tell me cause me don dey under intensive care wey dem dey chook me different size and shape of needle). My mother's vital role here and one of the reasons why I will always love her during these 126 hrs of been unconscious, remember I had to brush, I had to urinate, I had to do things every other person does including having my bath daily who was in charge of all these? (yessssss, my mother).

Mum carried me daily, I wore adult diaper so she had to clean me up always and above all she fasted and prayed daily alongside every other person that was aware of my situation at that time. When I finally woke up, I couldn't talk properly neither could I hear properly but miraculously mum heard and understood me perfectly. I couldn't walk cause I was weak to the extent that the doctors restricted me from taking water but only lucozade boost so mum was my leg and made demands for things that she didn't take time to do. She plaited my hair daily cause I always asked for it (the thing dey sweet me for body jare). This is one of the many things mum has done for me

She is always there when I need her to be, my prayer warrior, my adviser, my confidant, my perfect woman.. That is what you are to me.. Wish I could write more but I don't want to bore my readers.. Please say a happy birthday to my momma for me.. I'm sure she would smile a lot. Help me wish my mum a happy birthday today as she turns 55.
