Nigeria U20: Respect not Worship
The way Nigerians are is just very funny but what do I do nah.. I'm not a fan of Solomon Dalung but then this video going viral about the Falconets getting paid by the Minister of Sports is one thing I don't understand.
There are two ways to this thing, which is hypocrisy and culture. You can disagree with me but these are what I believe played good roles here.
Previous ministers have openly paid player without anyone raising an alarm or saying it is wrong for the minister to pay players but when Dalung did, and not even openly, in an enclosed environment it became an issue. If you have a challenge with a person or don't like a person please keep it personal to yourself oo.. When Super Eagles were paid in public who complained about it. Looking from the other angle that Dalung even paid this money not waiting for the federation should earn him a clap. After the girls had not received their match bonuses and camp allowances for six qualifying World Cup games prior to that day what do you expect of him? Sit and wait for the Federation we don't pay equal attention they pay to male football to female football in Nigeria? We should be realistic at time and not judge with our hearts instead our brains.
Now, let's go through to culture part of this. The captain of the Falconets Oluwakemi Famuditi is a Yoruba girl and she could have knelt down at her own will following the Yoruba culture so who are you to judge this? My training is different from your training. I won't want to collect money from my father and stand in front of him except I'm expecting a kick on my knee. We saw 60 seconds of whatever happened there and we didn't get to see when she got the money. Ask yourself few questions, was she on her feet before she got the money, other players were seated on the floor so she could have been seated and crawled up to Dalung to get the money.
My final take on this matter is that I don't see anything wrong in this video, let's try to be factual about our thoughts and don't judge based on existing matter.
